Course description:

Some of the most important issues that are discussed in the course are:  What is the essence or (true) nature of language? Is language something material, behavioral, mental, biological, social, cultural, abstract or autonomous? Is linguistics concerned with cognitive structures of the psychological reality of its speakers or is linguistics about linguistic reality of symbols that the speakers produce.  If speakers know their language, what kind of knowledge is it? Do their linguistic intuitions express that knowledge?

It has also become a custom to dedicate two days of the conference to some important forthcoming or newly published books.

This yer it will be the book by Matthew Mandelkern Bounded meaning: The dynamics of interpretation. (Oxford University  Press, 2024).

The proceedings of the course are published yearly  in the Croatian Journal of Philosophy.
