21 | ALLIANCES IN TRANSFORMATIVE SOCIAL WORK

In order for social work to contribute to sustainable transformation in line with the Sustainable Development Goals through social innovation, working alliances, partnerships and coalitions are needed at the various levels of their different social forms, which often themselves take the form of social innovation: starting with dyadic settings, through work with smaller and larger groups, to approaches to territorial, functional, categorical and inter-categorical community work. In this context, the question arises as to what extent classic models or concepts of professional social work can be used at all to analyse the initiation and cultivation of such alliances and the social innovations associated with them, or whether they need to be modified.

The course will discuss the challenges of scientific research and modelling of such alliances and the conceptual consequences for the practice of transformative social work.
