The 20th session of the Jean Monnet Seminar, organised by the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, University of Zagreb – Faculty of Law, will focus on the topic ‘The Challenges of Solidarity Resurfacing in the EU’. As one of the EU’s foundational values, solidarity conditions the viability of European integration. It is a social and political concept with unclear theoretical foundations, yet potentially vast legal implications. In addition to questioning those interdisciplinary facets of solidarity, the seminar will explore to what extent the EU member states, in fulfilling their duty of sincere cooperation, have achieved ‘de-facto’ solidarity essential to respond to contemporary challenges to the effective and uniform development of EU law.
