Conference description:

The Eighth Dubrovnik International Conference on the Sanskrit Epics and Puranaas will discuss many aspects of current research on the Sanskrit Epics and Puranas: critical editing of epic and Puranic texts, composition, literary techniques, history of texts, chronology, intertextuality, historical context, mythological contents, relationship of texts to the earlier Vedic and later Tantric texts, relationship of texts to Buddhist, Jaina and other non-Brahmanical traditions, the contemporary importance of this tradition, computer tools for research of Sanskrit texts, etc. The special theme of this conference will be: Locating and dating of texts or manuscripts, the regions and time of their origin, locating and dating of their contents. However, other papers on current work and research on the Sanskrit epics and Puranas, if the abstracts are accepted by the International Board, will also be admitted.
