The proposed course is aimed to assist doctoral students in the (multidisciplinary) field of sexuality research and sexual health in finalizing their dissertation work/research and in preparing them for future research/academic careers. Given the lack of such workshops in Europe, a group of senior scholars with different expertise in the field will work with doctoral and recent post-doctoral students, both in formal sessions (providing comments and suggestions related to students’ presentations) and more informal discussions (advising on academic and other career-related topics). The group of senior scholars (conference directors) is multidisciplinary and covers both clinical and non-clinical research, qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods, and a wide range of topical approaches to human
sexuality: from forensic sexology and psychophysiological laboratory assessments to large-scale surveys of sexual behaviors and interview-based explorations of social constructions of sexuality.
This course focuses on offering practical advice and assistance to young researchers in the field of sexology and sexuality research in a supportive and creative atmosphere characterized by intellectual curiosity, inclusiveness, and mutual respect. All conference directors have extensive experience in teaching about sex and sexuality research, and mentoring PhD students.
