The course is dedicated to foundations of ethics, and issues in practical reasoning and moral motivation. The topics to be discussed include the role of sentiment and desire in motivation, in particular in moral motivation, nature of instrumental reason, morality and response-dependence and the role of practicar reason in motivating and gudining action. The participants are among most prominent contemporary authors in this domain. Some of them have revived Humean theory of action, others have been proposing new and original views on the nature of motivation, prudential and moral, while some are among the most interesting contemporary proponents of a role for emotion and sentiment in motivation, action and morality.
