The scientific conference New Perspectives In the Theory of Extreme Values will be held at the IUC in Dubrovnik from October 23 to 27, 2023. A few dozen mathematicians and statisticians from different international universities are expected to attend. The meeting is primarily dedicated to the mathematical theory and models of random extreme events that are of great importance in various fields, including climatology and economics for instance. The participants will present new results on the mathematical properties of such models as well as on random processes which produce unusual extreme phenomena. The meeting is held within the framework of the Croatian-Swiss project Probabilistic and analytical aspects of generalized regular variation, led by Ilya Molchanov (University of Bern) and Bojan Basrak (University of Zagreb), and financed by SNSF and HRZZ.
