Conference description:
Development of the sustainable and renewable energy sources has emerged again as the top political and societal priority in many countries. Triggered by a record increase in oil prices, the energy issue has revived again the global concerns about the climate change, but also about national security, independence from import, the immediate- and near-future economy prospects and possible undesired societal implications. Which of the multiple options can lead fastest to meeting the challenges and fulfilling the promises in providing efficient, safe, environmentally acceptable and reliable solutions? And what are the feasible near-future options, in particular, for specific countries and regions?

The conference aims at debating the actual issues and at providing some answers to the above-posed and other questions. It also aims at stimulating activities in selecting, researching and pursuing specific technologies that are feasible, realizable and economical, with a specific view of needs and potential of countries in South-East Europe. A panel of internationally renowned experts will present recent advancements and prospects of different options.
