Course description:

The region of South East Europe is slowly approaching Euro-atlantic integrations (EU and NATO) but there are still some unfinished issues (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and Macedonia). The aim of the course is to analyise current security developments and challenges in the region among young scolars and leaders from the region but also from the United States (Florida State University). Regional cooperation is seen as the most important tool in process of stabilization of the region and its approachment to the NATO and EU.

Besides that tradictional security unresolved problems in recent years some new, very dangerous challenges to security and stability have accoutred in the region of South East Europe: terrorism, the rise of Islamic voices, the so cold Western Balkan migration route. All that in the framework of overall poor economic and social situations are nnot positive signs that the region is going to be peaceful and stabile in the near future.

* This course offer ECTS points. Participants are expected to present their papers (30 min.) and to attend classes. They also have to be active during the course. At the end of course they have to pass the exam based on pregiven reading material.
