Course description:

The aim of the course is to give different insights into the principles of collocation formation and the linguistic description of the semantic and pragmatic aspects of metaphorical collocations in order to discuss possible implications for applied linguistics (lexicography, translation studies and glottodidactics) and computational linguistics: for language acquisition and processing natural language, as a basis for producing collocational dictionaries, for upgrading systems for machine translation and in machine-readable form, for many tasks of computational linguistics and natural language processing etc.

As the conference is part of the scientific project Metaphorical Collocations – syntagmatic word combinations between semantics and pragmatics funded by the Croatian Science Foundation, the project associates will present their research findings. All presenters will have the opportunity to publish their scientific paper in renowned journals indexed in relevant databases (WoS / Scopus)  that will enable visibility and availability of Croatian and German language material in (cognitive) semantic research in the European scientific field and beyond. The course language is German.
