Ettore Vittone, University of Torino, Italy
Conference description:

Capability to inject a single atom into the substrate, or irradiate it by a single ion at the exactly determined position, are challenges driven by the development of new – one may say - future technologies, in which the accelerator based ion beam technology play an important role.

The aim of the workshop is to present successful examples where focused ion beams or single ion irradiation play or could play a crucial role in emerging future technologies, including quantum computing and quantum sensing. Additionally, new irradiation approaches, or new techniques that could attract potential users will be also presented. Experts from other fields that may be potential users of ion beam technologies will be also invited. It is expected that the workshop could result in new collaborations and new project proposals, including those within the scope of European Union research funding possibilities.

The workshop will be organized mostly through the invited presentations from Monday till Wednesday with preliminary list of topics:

• Quantum sensing and computing

• Deterministic ion implantation and single ion hit detection

• Nanostructuring using single ions

• Functionalization using ion beams

• Ion beams for changing optical properties

• Biosensing and dosimetry

• Development of ion beam irradiation techniques
