Conference description:
Fashion studies today cover many academic disciplines, from sociology to history, anthropology, semiotics, psychology, and cultural studies. The topic of fashion is interdisciplinary and offers different social meanings. Recent academic research on the fashion system invites us to reflect upon the basic elements and complexities of contemporary reality. The 3rd Conference on Disciplines of Fashion will be a platform for the various academic disciplines of fashion to challenge the values that the fashion system initiates and perpetuates; with patterns of social behaviour which it produces or feeds on; with the narratives behind sartorial histories; and with the questions that arise from the ways of defining corporeal identity through styles of appearance. The interdisciplinary scope of fashion issues also cover political and economic fields.
