Croatian President Mr. Zoran Milanović received Prof. Krunoslav Pisk, IUC Director General and Ms. Nada Bruer Ljubišić, Executive Secretary, as representatives of Interuniversity Centre Dubrovnik. The meeting took place on 10 November 2020 in Zagreb, in the office of the President. The meeting also attended Ms. Jadranka Žarković, Advisor to the President for Education and Ms. Ivana Kovačević, Secretary of the Cabinet for education, science, culture and youth.
IUC representatives presented the work and significance of the Inter-university Centre as an independent international institution with almost 50 years of continuity. Special attention was put on the value of this institution for the Croatian academic and scientific community, its international dimension and uniqueness of this association of universities. IUC representatives informed the President about the difficulties the IUC is facing due to the fact that legal status for the work of the IUC is secured by the IUC Association – an NGO, which is endangering stable financing of the Centre. In that regard, they asked for understanding and support in finding a sustainable solution within the legal framework of the Republic of Croatia. All of these issues were and will be discussed also with the Croatian Ministry of Science and Education.
President Milanović promised to support the IUC in the scope of his Presidential authorities.
