INTERNSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT:

Inter-University Centre Dubrovnik is an independent international institution for advanced studies with a mission to organise and promote contact and exchange through projects, study programmes, courses and conferences across a wide range of academic topics.

IUC is organising graduate courses and conferences bringing together people from different cultures and promoting trans-disciplinary dialogue. Programme directors and resource persons are coming from about 170 member universities worldwide. Through the year, app. 2000 participants from all around the world attend the IUC programmes.

POSITION:

Intern / administrative and technical assistant at the IUC Secretariat.

TIMING:

Internship should last from 1 to 3 months in Spring (April – June) or Fall (August – October) 2017. Exact dates are negotiable.

DUTIES:

Technical assistance to professors and participants of IUC courses and conferences (multimedia presentations, wireless setup, photocopying, printing), administrative assistance in the IUC Secretariat, web page update, data base update, Facebook and LinkedIn network updates, support to other activities as assigned by the supervisor, and according to the interest and abilities of intern.

Interns have an opportunity to participate in courses and lectures of their interest (upon agreement of course directors).

WORKING HOURS:

30-36 hours per week, flexible, occasionaly on weekends.

WORKING LANGUAGE:

English

QUALIFICATIONS:

A student or a recent graduate with the IT knowledge (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet browsers), good written and oral communication skills, ability to perform diverse tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.

OPPORTUNITIES:

Working in an international academic institution, meeting and associating with colleagues and professors from different parts of the world, attending courses and lectures of your interest, getting to know Croatian and Dubrovnik culture, possibilities to visit and explore history and culture of the surrounding countries (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania).

IMPORTANT:

Please note that the IUC is a non-profit organisation and it is not in the position to offer financial compensation for the internship. Travel expenses, insurance, accommodation and meals are to be covered by the intern. We recommend candidates to look for funding opportunities provided by the EU programmes (i.e. Erasmus+), universities' or independent foundations' grants. The IUC will provide full support for grant applications.
